Privacy policy
Updated 28 October 2026. In plain words: what AwaySwing keeps, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
AwaySwing keeps what it needs to score cricket and share it: your account, your teams and matches, and the scorecards. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, from the app at any time (Settings → Account and privacy).
What we keep
Your account. Your name, your Player ID, how you sign in (Google, email, or a mobile number with a password), a verified email if you add one, and a profile photo if you choose one. A mobile number is only a username: it isn't shown to anyone, and it's never used to find you or to match you to a player. Phone numbers and email addresses stay private unless you share them.
Cricket. Teams and squads (the players' names as the team's admin typed them), tournaments, fixtures, and every ball of the matches scored with AwaySwing, with who scored them and when. Scorecards, results, tables and career figures are public, as they are in any club scorebook.
Your phone. A random ID for each phone you use, the app version, and a notification token if you allow notifications, so reminders and results reach you.
Streaming. If you go live, the stream keys for YouTube or another streaming service (pasted by you, or made by the app on your connected channel) are kept only to send your stream there, and are given only to our relay. Your video and sound pass through that relay on their way, and aren't kept by us; their own terms then apply to them. The watch link is shown with the score on the match page while you're live.
Crash reports. When the app goes wrong it sends us what went wrong and where in our code, with the app version and the phone's platform. Nothing that names you. We keep them for 90 days.
Connecting YouTube
If you choose Connect YouTube, AwaySwing uses YouTube API Services, with your permission, to create live videos on your channel, schedule them and change their time when your match moves, and end them when you end the stream. It reads only your channel's name, to show which channel is connected. It never reads, changes or deletes your other videos, comments or ratings.
Google's permission for this stays on your phone: it isn't sent to or kept on our servers. The connected channel's name and the scheduled videos' links are kept on your phone. Disconnect in Go live removes the permission, or remove AwaySwing's access at any time in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
By connecting you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's use of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
What the app uses on your phone
The camera, only when you scan a QR code or go live. The microphone, only while you stream. Your photos, only when you pick a profile picture or save a moment card or scorecard. Scoring works with no signal: matches are kept on your phone and sent when you're back online.
Who helps us run it
Google Firebase signs you in and delivers notifications. Our servers run on Oracle Cloud, and web pages may pass through Cloudflare. Codes for account recovery are emailed through an email provider. Backups are encrypted before they leave our servers, and kept in a second place in case the first is lost. None of them may use your data for anything but helping AwaySwing work.
How long we keep it
Your account until you delete it. When you do, your profile, photo, phone links and settings are removed; scorecards you appear in keep your name as plain text, because they're the record of matches other people played too. Encrypted backups roll over within five weeks. Crash reports go after 90 days.
Your choices
Download a copy of your data, or delete your account, in Settings → Account and privacy (how to delete your account, even without the app). Turn each kind of notification on or off in Settings → Notifications. A team admin can remove a player from a squad; ask yours, or us.
Children
You need to be 13 or older to make an account. A younger player's account is made by a parent or guardian.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you first. Questions, or a request about your data: support@awayswing.com.
